There is an appealing story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den betting is not legal. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent location, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting locations in Asia. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, financing sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and although visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel compound that features a number of conveniences on top of the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight tables.
