• Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den gambling is illegal. Eight casinos are situated in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; although, investment sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 17:00, and even though visas are allegedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga river boat is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that features many comforts on top of the casino, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 table games.
